You can now buy the former site of an iconic Toronto bar

If you’re a fan of The Rolling Stones – or rock ‘n’ roll in general – you’ve surely been to Stones Place, Toronto’s one-of-a-kind bar and live music venue named after the famous Band with Mick Jager.

Sadly, after 20 years in business the iconic spot has been swept away by pandemic closures, its recognizable purple-lined yellow brick home in Parkdale has stood empty since 2020.

But anyone interested in owning a piece of club history – well, the whole club, really – can now do so if they have a few million on hand.

That’s right, the detached beauty of 1255 Queen St. W. just went up for sale, converted into a bar, as is.

The assignment made yesterday says the property had “previous use as an illustrious music venue/bar with a capacity of 245”, and comes with all the fixings to make it another business.

Among the more than 7,000 square feet of floor space with a dance floor, lounge area and bars, there is also a residential suite on the second floor and “unlimited potential for expansion on the impressive layout and rooftop” .

Realtors are touting the $5.5 million building in the heart of one of the city’s coolest neighborhoods as the perfect opportunity for investors, and the listing even notes that although it’s “ideal for continued or permitted uses” as a nightlife venue, there is potential redevelopment for anyone who dares to empty or overturn the famous haunt.

Although the space appears to come with sofas, rugs and other items from its former life, the things that made the bar so appealing, all the rare Stones memorabilia from collector and bar owner Jerry Stone, have gone down well. sure been deleted.

This is a super unique and rare property with a coveted West Queen West address, with huge business potential, and the living quarters are large and opulent; certainly worthy of a Rolling Stone.

Whoever catches this gem will most likely end up turning it into another bar or venue (if we’re lucky), though it’s hard to live up to the legacy of the hotel’s former tenant. building.
