4:26 p.m.: The long-dormant and frequently vandalized development site in the 5200 block of California SW — two former restaurants and a former shopping center — has a new plan, according to what we just found in the city’s online files: A complex of assisted living. A preliminary site plan filed with the city on Tuesday shows the proposal originated from Living Aegiswho already owns an assisted living/memory care complex in West Seattle, in the west admiral. We reported a year ago that the site was back on the market, after a redevelopment plan as stalled townhouses, and the listing has been ‘(sale) pending’ for some time ; King County Assessor records do not yet indicate a completed sale. The site is zoned for a four-story mixed-use development (NC2-40). We contact Aegis to learn more about their plan, which the city’s website simply summarizes as “a new neighborhood building for assisted living and living.”

7:17 p.m.: We’ve heard from an Aegis spokesperson who says there’s not much to say as it’s at an early stage but promises info tomorrow.
