Twitter may be working on a new feature called Articles

Twitter is supposedly working on a new feature called Articles, which can allow users to create long, blog-like articles that exceed the current limit of 280 characters per tweet. The Possible Articles feature was first spotted and shared on Twitter by Jane Manchun Wongwhich has been exposing upcoming app features for a few years now.

Currently, there is not much information about the new Articles feature. There are no details on when we might expect the new feature and whether it will be available to all Twitter users or limited only to specific people. It is also not mentioned if the items will be monetized or not. Judging from the responses under Jane Manchun Wong’s tweet, people have different opinions regarding the possible functionality of items.

According to some Twitter users, articles would make Twitter more of a blogging website, similar to Medium. Medium is a blogging platform originally designed to post writing longer than Twitter’s character limit.

For some users, the introduction of the ability to create such blog-like posts would eventually reduce the engagement rate on Twitter. As one Twitter user replied, a post wouldn’t be able to get the number of impressions and engagements that Twitter feeds do.

But there are, of course, many users who support the idea of introducing long posts on Twitter. One Twitter user even replied that he would rather use it than run his own website.

What is your opinion on the matter? Do you think articles would be a positive addition to Twitter, or do you think it would be a bad idea to introduce blog-style articles to the platform?
