Sussex Police are searching for missing A21 driver after car crashed into tree

A car crashed into a tree on the A21 – but when officers arrived at the scene no one was there.

The incident took place near Marley Lane in Sedlescombe at 8.05am today (13 March).

The extent of the injuries is unknown until the force contacts the car owner.

The vehicle was left safe.

A police spokesman said: ‘Police have responded and vehicle is secure; no signs of presence. Vehicle recovered. Investigations to ensure welfare of registered owner ongoing.’

The crash caused a partial blockage of the road, but traffic held up well according to traffic and travel website Inrix.
