Regarding problems with the site – KnickerBlogger.Net

Mike made a comment explaining the situation, but I thought I’d pin it for a moment just for everyone to see. I disabled comments, just not to distract from other threads.

Here is Mike:

A huge upgrade needs to take place and my server is too outdated to perform an in-place upgrade. Unfortunately, to do this, I will have to migrate to a new server. Which means copying all my files, sql settings, user settings, mail settings etc. Not just for this site, but for all the domains I own/use. So it will take time. Right now I’m trying to keep the old horse operational with duct tape. My goal is to get all of that sorted out before the start of the season. The only thing I need is a few hours/days in my personal life, which should be in the next month.

Another thing – there is a small chance that the problem is the database/configuration, and I have to delete everything and start from scratch. My thinking is that if this happens I’ll have the old site running somewhere (old.knickerblogger.net) read-only/reference. The site would probably work better, but I would have to spend a lot of time reconfiguring everything. In a way, it would be a blessing and a curse.
