Govini Report Highlights Need for DOD to Advance Innovation and Invest in Critical Technologies

A Govini report revealed that the Ministry of Defense continues to face difficulties with regard to mobilize innovation and venture capital communities and that limited U.S. investment is paving the way for China to gain a competitive advantage in artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing, and other emerging technology areas.

“This year, we felt it was vital to focus on technologies critical to the future of national security,” Tara Murphy Dougherty, CEO of Govini, said in a statement released Wednesday.

“The DoD has recognized the importance of emerging technologies in the ongoing strategic competition with China, particularly in economic and military competitiveness. … Yet, despite continued efforts, our competitive edge is under threat. As the data shows, a more aggressive shift towards innovation is imperative; more of the same will not work.

President Govini Robert Labor said national security officials should be aware of the importance of understanding investments in critical technology areas to better inform policy decisions and identify potential trade-offs.

Defense leaders should use this information to facilitate transparent discussions about the balance between long-term defense priorities and current national crises, such as a pandemic or natural disaster,” Work added, twice. Wash100 winner.

Govini’s latest report on the National Security Dashboard showed that US investments in AI and machine learning are providing situational awareness of the war in Ukraine.
