David Ornstein provides update on Manchester United coaching search

Manchester United are struggling to appoint a new manager before the end of the season.

According to The temperatureMauricio Pochettino is favored by members of the United dressing room, but Erik ten Hag has started doing background research on the team’s players.

We’ll be checking every outlet in the coming weeks for updates, but it looks like United are moving as fast as they can to find a manager ahead of the transfer window. This would at least allow the club to plan under the new man – short term and long term.

Athletic’s David Ornstein provided an update for Sky Sports News this morning saying: “Manchester United are well into their process of appointing the new permanent manager, Erik and then Hag is one of the candidates and Pochettino too.

“There have been suggestions around Luis Enrique and a number of other candidates, so I think there will be backup options as well, and that’s why you’ve seen reports about Carlo Ancelotti, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Graham Potter.

“They will be keeping tabs on a number of coaches, but that’s really the case with these two names: Pochettino and Ten Hag.

“United, as I understand it, have met with some of their candidates now and are continuing that process. The dialogue is fluid and they want to make a decision as soon as possible, so in the coming weeks to allow whoever the manager has time to be part of the decision-making process on building the team for next season and beyond.”

He also adds: “I don’t think it will be long before we have a clear idea of who this is going to be.”
