Belmont: Group search following fatal shooting of 62-year-old man

A murder investigation is underway following the shooting death of a 62-year-old man in Belmont.

On Monday, July 4, at approximately 10:26 p.m., police said officers responded to a 911 call about a man who was shot outside 2431 Prospect Avenue, located in the 48th Pregnant.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 62-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest, along with two other victims,” ​​an NYPD spokesperson said. “Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”

The spokesperson added: “A second victim, a 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right leg, was also transported by EMS to Saint Barnabas Hospital and is listed in stable condition. A third victim, a A 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right arm, arrived by private means at Saint Barnabas Hospital and is in stable condition.There have been no arrests and the investigation is still ongoing.

The deceased has been identified as John Edwards of Prospect Avenue, Belmont, Bronx.

In accordance with an ongoing investigation, police said on Wednesday July 6 that those in the vehicle seen in the attached video were wanted for questioning in connection with the murder investigation.
